Created by co-founders Kit Jewitt and Will Rose, Golden Grenades Collective is a group dedicated to celebrating birds and fundraising for their protection.<\/p>
Named after\u00a0J. A. Baker<\/a>\u2019s description of the bunched toes of a stooping peregrine falcon in his 1967 masterpiece\u00a0The Peregrine,\u00a0<\/em>our aim is to share our love of birds far and wide; with the young and young-at-heart, from all walks of life, in a way that is inclusive for everyone.<\/p> Beginning life as lockdown podcast project,\u00a0Golden Grenades<\/a>\u00a0has now evolved to include a guest blog and a range of collaborative birdy merch with a focus on fundraising for bird conservation causes.<\/p> A stooping peregrine is one of the avian world\u2019s spectacles, but there are many, many more and we want to share them all with you. Our plan is to create an old school style fan club dedicated to birds that people can feel a part of. Alongside the podcast, we have created a forum for guest writers to share their joy and love for birds, for bird-loving musicians to promote their work and for curated guest creatives to collaborate with us on clobber that people in our bird gang want to wear. He created his online alter ego\u00a0YOLOBirder<\/a>\u00a0for bird-related kicks, and somehow managed to blag his way onto the BBC Tweet of the Day and Springwatch, receiving the undeserved honour of being named an Unsprung Hero for his\u00a0#99Birds<\/a>\u00a0art book project. That was the precursor of\u00a0Red Sixty Seven<\/u><\/em><\/a>, a book he curated of art and words raising money for the UK\u2019s red-listed bird species. Published by the British Trust for Ornithology\u00a0<\/u><\/a>in 2020, it has raised over \u00a340,000 to date and now has a sequel-of-sorts, Into The Red<\/u><\/a> . He also likes football, music and bacon-flavoured maize snacks.<\/p> Will Rose<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is an animator, illustrator and wildlife fan based in South London. No stranger to the Golden Grenades podcast, Will has loved getting involved, creating animation and tunes for the show. His passion for nature and love of working with music led him to making his own award-winning shorts, not to mention working with superstars such as Sir David Attenborough and Yoga with Adriene as well as designing, writing and animating on the award-winning children\u2019s shows, Hey Duggee and Peppa Pig.
